Default Folder X attaches a toolbar to the right side of the Open and Save dialogs in any Mac OS X-native application. The toolbar gives you fast access to various folders and commands. You just click on the buttons to go to your favorite and recently used folders, manage the folders and files shown in the list, and make changes to your settings.

Default Folder also fixes a number of problems in Open and Save dialogs, “rebounding” back to the last selected file, putting the path listing back in the top menu, and correcting bugs in scrolling column views.

Whats new:

Updated for the latest the developer release of OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

Default Folder X no longer hangs when the OS X metadata server (mds) is responding slowly.

Fixed a problem with the rebound feature intermittently failing to work.

Made the background white for text file previews.

Added a hidden option to turn Default Folder X back on in the Dock (I can’t take anything away, can I?) Command-Option-click on the Settings button in Default Folder X in System Preferences and turn on the checkbox marked ShowIconInDock, then turn Default Folder X off and back on again. Note that doing this will result in Default Folder X’s toolbar and controls not appearing next to Open and Save dialogs in fullscreen applications on OS X 10.8 and higher.

The DFX script in the Extras folder now works correctly with OS X 10.8.4 and higher.
